What makes some people glow? Plus a Berry-Power-Chia-Goodness-Smoothie Recipe!

by Joy on February 1, 2026

Have you ever noticed that no matter what, someone people always look beautiful? This is because they exude beauty from within. I can think of several women in my life, my mom, my girlfriend Elaine, both founders of 889 Yonge Christine & Emily (their mama too!) and more, that truly exude beauty. They have a glow that you can’t buy in a bottle and slather on for instant gorgeousness.

I know their secret and I’m going to share it with you.

Here’s the deal, you can’t look beautiful without feeling beautiful from the inside - they go hand in hand. Because the natural glow you get from eating real food, from thinking positive thoughts and making your best efforts to have an optimistic outlook is what truly creates beauty. In the past, I have certainly felt very unhealthy from the inside and this made me feel bad about my outside. I was so incredibly critical of my outside and guess what? I wasn’t taking care of my inside very well.

Once I started taking care of my inside by choosing good food to nourish not only my body, but my soul I noticed absolutely incredible changes. This is why I want to share this beautifying smoothie recipe with you. Not only does it have ingredients that create beauty from the inside out, but it tastes absolutely delicious. Can’t get much better than that can you? Healthy deliciousness to fill your body with beauty!

Beauty Smoothie Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup goji berries (let soak in warm water for a few minutes before adding to your smoothie)
  • 1/2 cup frozen berries (any kind: blueberries, strawberries, raspberries)
  • 1/4 cup pure organic pomegranate juice (or pom seeds if you have them)
  • 1 scoop protein powder (Sunwarrior is a great brand)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla (unless your smoothie has vanilla in it)
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup almond or hemp milk (if you don’t have coconut milk just add more of one of these)

Place all your ingredients into a blender and process until smooth. Add water if you want it to be a thinner consistency. Serves 1-2.

What makes it so beautifying?

This smoothie is so chock full of phytochemicals it may give you an instant glow. Your cells will be smiling with sheer joy! It’s got a megawatt dose of vitamin C (a precursor to collagen), B-complex vitamins, potassium, hundreds of different polyphenols that not only prevent wrinkling sagging skin, but also prevent skin cancer. And let’s not forget the fibre from the chia seeds and all the berries — this will give your gut a good scrub from the inside out and believe me, most of us can do with an inside cleaning. :)

This smoothie also promotes a healthy cardiovascular system, reduces oxidation on the brain to prevent degenerative problems and keep you creative and sharp, plus it contains many more medicinal nutrients that help in the prevention of many different forms of cancer. This just scratches the surface.
