Monkey Mind 1.3.2 - My New Mat

by Julie on January 31, 2026

In big bold letters on my mental holiday wish list, I wrote: NEW YOGA MAT. Granted no one but me could see this list, it was still something I really hoped to get.

The “January Joiner” phenomenon is new to me. It is this annual surge of New Year’s Resolutionaries, the people who sign up at the start of the year for gym memberships only to revert back to their pre-resolution states soon after.

Good upper body posture at the Computer

by Guest Blogger! on November 13, 2025

By Riki Richter, 889 Living Yoga Program Anatomy Expert

Sitting in front of a computer for hours at a time can have its challenges. Most of us end up in a forward head posture with the shoulders and upper back rounding forward, the head shifting in front of the rest of the spine, creating a lot of tension in the base of skull and mid neck area. Your body is working overtime to hold the weight of your falling forward head upright. This can result in discomfort in the muscles at the base of the neck and top of shoulder blades, tension headaches, TMJ (temporomandibular joint syndrome) and over longer periods of time cervical (neck) disc issues.
